Has It Really Been 8 Years?!

How do you catch things back up after 8 years of silence on a blog? There probably isn’t any really good way to do it. So instead of playing catch up, how about we just pretend there was never a gap! Over the weekend I ran my second half marathon of 2026 (and of my life). It was a humbling experience as I came down with a mild knee injury about 4 weeks before the race, which held me back from giving it my all. But I still finished and I’m proud of all the hard work I put in. I started “really” running for the first time in my life in March of last year. Since about June of 2025 I’ve been in training mode. First for the 2025 Cherry City Half Marathon 10K (Sept 2025), then the Silver Falls Trail Runs 7 Miler (Nov 2025), next the 2026 Eugene Marathon Half Marathon (April 2026), and this past weekend the 2026 Cherry City Half Marathon (Sept 2026). I’m happy to finally get some rest!

In addition to me running the Half Marathon, Abby ran the 5K while I was out on the course. She ran the race all on her own and did a fantastic job! I’m proud of how much she pushed herself and stayed focused after the long weekend she had with Marching Band and running.
