I think what we&#039;re seeing now is akin to what happened during the oil boom of the early 20th century, where everyone was a prospector putting something in the ground to see if they could strike it rich. That&#039;s what people are doing now via the social web. Because you are right. And what&#039;s funny is, there are lots of people on FOFC who are like us. Who you know, have been on the web since forever and who&#039;ve build intense relationships personally and professionally using these tools and yet, there are people out there who swear they have the &quot;magic&quot; that&#039;ll make it a better experience for all of us.
It&#039;s bullshit really. There&#039;s no two ways about it. But folks are just trying to make a living, they&#039;re usually old snake oil salesman types or younger and have no real context for how what they&#039;re doing isn&#039;t really new at all. So they masquerade as experts and try to outsmart the rest of us. It&#039;s sorta funny, especially when you spend a lot of time with them...but at the same time, it&#039;s not.
